The airport splits passengers between two terminals. Terminal 2, inaugurated in 2017, handles international flights; designed for 2.5 million passengers a year, its architecture draws on the heritage of Fez. Since November 2019, Terminal 1 has been reserved for domestic flights, including those to Casablanca. An expansion project, put out to tender in 2024, is set to raise capacity to 5 million passengers a year, with a terminal of around 46,000 m².
Traffic is steady: 1.92 million passengers in 2025, close to the 2024 level. Ryanair operates most routes, alongside Air Arabia Maroc, Royal Air Maroc and Transavia. France is the largest market, led by Paris, with around ten French cities served direct; Spain, Italy and Belgium follow.
The airport serves two imperial cities on the UNESCO World Heritage List: the medina of Fez, listed in 1981, and the historic city of Meknes, listed in 1996, 71 km away by road. It connects to the A2 Rabat-Oujda motorway and to the N8, the road to Ifrane and the Middle Atlas.
