Arriving in Marrakech at night: late flights, formalities and getting to your riad
If your flight lands late at Marrakech Menara, the work is done before you leave home: who meets you, which car takes you, and what time your riad expects you should all be settled in advance, because late at night is when you least want to negotiate. With our welcome and chauffeur, the flight is tracked, the actual landing time applies, the price you paid does not change on arrival, and the car drops you at the nearest point a vehicle can reach from your riad.
Price first. Fast Track Premium: 200 EUR per adult (13 and over), 100 EUR per child aged 2 to 12, free under 2. Private transfer: from 45 EUR per vehicle, from the airport to the Medina, Gueliz or Hivernage. Book at least 48 hours before your flight.

The short version
- The time on your ticket is local time, and Morocco went back to GMT on 20 September 2026.
- Formalities are the same at night; whether the priority lane is open depends on the airport and the time of day.
- A delay costs you nothing extra: the agent and the chauffeur work to the actual landing time.
- Nothing to pay at the terminal exit, in dirhams or in euros.
- In the Medina, the car stops at the nearest drivable point: tell your riad when you land.
Your arrival time: Morocco has been on GMT since 20 September 2026
This is the most recent change, and it matters most for evening arrivals. Decree No. 2.26.530, adopted by the Government Council on 25 June 2026 and published in Morocco's Official Bulletin No. 7521 of 29 June 2026, moved the country back to GMT overnight on 19 to 20 September 2026. It repeals the 2018 decree that had added 60 minutes to legal time permanently, so this is not a temporary switch like those of recent Ramadans.
European summer time ends on the last Sunday of October, which is 25 October 2026. From that date until European clocks go forward in spring:
| Where you fly from | Time difference with Marrakech |
|---|---|
| London, Dublin | same time |
| Paris, Brussels, Geneva, Madrid | Marrakech is 1 hour behind |
What it means in practice:
- The landing time on your ticket is Marrakech time. That is the time to give your riad.
- Old habits are out of date. Between 2018 and September 2026, Marrakech was an hour ahead of London in winter. From late October 2026 the clocks match, which makes a late UK departure easier to plan.
- For travellers from continental Europe, a 23:00 landing in Marrakech is midnight at home this winter. With children or older parents, tiredness follows the home clock.
At the airport in the evening: what changes and what does not
Formalities do not depend on the time of day: passport control by the border police, with an entry stamp, baggage reclaim, customs, then the arrivals hall. Each step is set out with its sources in our guide to arriving in Morocco by air.
What nobody can tell you is how long the queue will be on a given night. In July 2026 Airports of Morocco published an average passport control time of 6.86 minutes on arrival at Marrakech Menara for the first half of 2026. That is a six-month average with no breakdown by hour: it does not say whether evening arrivals are quicker or slower, and we do not claim either. Our article on Marrakech airport waiting times explains what the average leaves out.
With Fast Track, an agent meets you as you step off the aircraft, holding a sign with the booking name, stays with you through the formalities and takes you to the priority lane when it is open. Whether it is open depends on the airport and the hour, so we do not promise it will be for your flight. What the escort brings late at night is continuity: one person waiting as you leave the aircraft, another at the wheel, and the two have spoken to each other. You show your own documents, and no clearance time is guaranteed.
Taxis, cash machines, SIM cards: why we give no opening hours
Many travellers want to know what is still open at the airport at night: currency exchange, cash machines, SIM card counters, taxis. We found no dated official source that publishes these hours for Marrakech Menara, and the night taxi fares quoted online do not agree with each other. So we do not repeat them.
The practical advice that follows: arrive with nothing left to sort out.
- The ride. A car booked and paid before you travel means no discussion about the fare at the exit.
- Dirhams. According to Morocco's Foreign Exchange Office, a traveller may bring in up to 2,000 dirhams in banknotes. If you kept some from a previous trip, they will cover the first small expenses.
- Your phone. Check your mobile plan's terms for Morocco before you leave, so you can reach your chauffeur and your riad as soon as you land.
If your flight is late
We track your flight using the number you give when booking: the actual landing time applies, and the agent and the chauffeur adjust to it, with nothing for you to do and nothing extra to pay. If you book "Both", the agent alerts the chauffeur directly, including when the flight is late, and the car is waiting at the exit.
- If nobody is waiting at the exit, call the number on your confirmation before leaving the terminal or getting into another vehicle.
- If the airline cancels your flight, you get a full refund: our booking terms list a cancellation by the airline among exceptional circumstances.
- For your riad, send the flight number rather than a time, so they can follow the flight too.
From the airport to your riad: the last few hundred metres
The airport is 6.9 km from the centre of Marrakech, a 15 to 20 minute drive. The part that needs planning is arriving in the Medina.
Much of the Medina is closed to cars. The chauffeur drops you at the nearest point a vehicle can reach and shows you the way. Tell your host when you are landing: most riads send a porter if they are told in advance.
Outside the Medina, the car goes to the door: Gueliz and Hivernage (6.9 km, 15 to 20 min), the Palmeraie (13.9 km, 25 to 30 min), the Agafay desert (22 km, 28 min). Our Marrakech airport transfer page lists the vehicles and how prices work by zone.
Before you fly: a checklist
- Book at least 48 hours before your flight, online, by phone or on WhatsApp. Later bookings are not possible.
- Give the exact flight number: it is what lets us follow the actual landing time.
- Give the exact address of your riad or villa: the price is calculated from it and shown before payment.
- Include babies in the booking: a baby seat is supplied and fitted at no charge.
- Keep the summary: before you travel, you receive in writing the agent's name, the meeting point, the chauffeur's name, the vehicle and a number to call.
- Tell your riad: flight number, number of guests and bags.

Frequently asked questions
Will the chauffeur wait if my evening flight is late?
Yes: the flight is tracked and the actual landing time applies, at no extra cost. If you book "Both", the agent alerts the chauffeur directly.
What time is it in Marrakech compared with London?
From 25 October 2026, Marrakech is on the same time as London and one hour behind Paris. Morocco went back to GMT on 20 September 2026.
Does Fast Track guarantee a quick passage at night?
No: it guarantees no clearance time. The agent takes you to the priority lane when it is open, which depends on the airport and the time of day.
Can the chauffeur drop me at my riad's door?
At the nearest drivable point, because much of the Medina is closed to cars. Most riads send a porter if you let them know.
Do I need dirhams to pay the chauffeur?
No: the price is paid online before you travel, and nothing is asked at the terminal exit. Tips and unplanned stops are not included.
